Ceramics Encounters… is an exhibition, presented from October 24 2007 to January 10 2008, whose primary objective is to present the work of professional ceramists whose practices result from original research that pushes the boundaries of this medium.  More specifically, it is the presentation of the work of Monique Giard, Laurent Craste and Yves Louis-Seize from Montréal, Québec and of Gaëtanne Sylvester, Robert Archambeau and Alan Lacovetsky from Winnipeg, Manitoba. As 2007 is the Year of Craft in Canada, I believe that such an exhibition offers a meeting place for artists, audiences and institutions to open a dialogue and to promote the significant artistic practice put forward by these creators and scholars.
