Ceramics Encounters… is an exhibition, presented from October 24 2007 to January 10 2008, whose primary objective is to present the work of professional ceramists whose practices result from original research that pushes the boundaries of this medium.  More specifically, it is the presentation of the work of Monique Giard, Laurent Craste and Yves Louis-Seize from Montréal, Québec and of Gaëtanne Sylvester, Robert Archambeau and Alan Lacovetsky from Winnipeg, Manitoba. As 2007 is the Year of Craft in Canada, I believe that such an exhibition offers a meeting place for artists, audiences and institutions to open a dialogue and to promote the significant artistic practice put forward by these creators and scholars.

Hooked Rugs presents, from January 16 to April 13 2008, contemporary works of four artists that chose to pursue a very old tradition: that of rug hooking. These artists are Doris Eaton, Deanne Fitzpatrick and Margaret Forsey, from Nova Scotia, and Rachelle Leblanc from Québec. We take this opportunity to present some of the hooked rugs from the collection of the Musée des maîtres et artisans du Québec. It provides a look into the daily life of our ancestors and our Quebec traditions.
